Once again Romania wins gold in programming competition

Aug 09, 2013 by Oana

This year Brisbane (Australia) has held the International Olympiad in Informatics between July 6 – 12, and once again the Romanian students have returned with the prestigious gold medal. More exactly, the Romanian students have won 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medals.

We are extremely proud of these results, especially because this year the competition has been even tougher: 304 participants from 81 countries. Impressive right? :)

So congratulations to: Rares Darius, Vlad Alexandru Gavrila, Andrei Heidelbacher, Mihai Popa!

These results prove that Romania has a solid educational system when it comes to developing STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), also that Romanian software development companies are built by experts, and have the human resources that are required for delivering good software products & services.

As a side note: Romanian students have also succeeded to impress and obtain remarkable results at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (this year Romania has obtained 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medals), and at the International Geography Olympiad (this year Romania has obtained 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal), and also at numerous other competitions.

So far 2013 was a good year, and we are sure that the future looks bright for the Romanian students!
