TechSmith CAMTASIA STUDIOIf in the previous post we took a look at an open source e-learning software application: CamStudio, now it's time to see what TechSmith's Camtasia has to offer.

A professional solution: TechSmith's Camtasia

Aside from the basic editing tools, Camtasia provides its users with a more professional approach to content development at the price of $299. As an example, the e-learning software gives content developers the option to import and edit multiple audio and video tracks simultaneously. This, combined with the green screen effect and the "Remove a Color" feature, allows a teacher to place himself in the middle of his project in order to actively participate in his lesson.

Camtasia comes with a wide variety of editing tools, such as:
- ClipSpeed for fast and easy time frame adjustments
- Blur effects for preserving personal information that could not be physically eliminated from the video
- The SmartFocus tool that can add shadows and borders to call attention to important areas
- Video content can be customized using animations to retain the viewer's attention and can be made interactive

Also, among other functions, Camtasia gives its presentation developers the option to run quizzes in order to verify that the audience is actually learning from the material. The quizzes can be taken on desktops, laptops, iPads, Android tablets, and most Android smartphones. The results are sent using SCORM reporting and the customer can choose to receive daily email result alerts that include an attached spreadsheet, for easy review in most database applications.

Besides Camtasia's great arsenal of video creation, editing and publishing tools, TechSmith's Smart Player provides content developers with an online platform for delivering interactive digital videos in Flash and HTML5 viewer environments. The player is accessible from any mobile device or computer system, allowing easy access to materials.

Given the impressive suite of editing features for presentation development, user friendly interface and publishing options, it's no wonder that Camtasia is a preferred choice for creating e-learning materials.

If the video editing in CamStudio, or the advanced editing features and quizzes from Camtasia are not enough for your projects, then be patient and take a look at our next article, where we'll present what Adobe Captivate has to offer.
